On April 4, the State Republican Executive Committee voted to move the Republican Party of Texas’s biennial state convention to July 16-18. The event titled Vision 2020 is scheduled to take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston, Texas. The gathering was originally scheduled in mid-May but had to be postponed due to the social distancing protocols brought on by the COVID-19 crisis.

The updated information for the new convention dates have not been added to the organization’s official website, however, a notice did go out from Republican Party of Texas Chairman James Dickey on April 7.

The statewide convention is the second largest delegation to the Republican National Convention, which will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina in late August.

“I would like to thank our Republican leaders across the state for the steadfast leadership and commitment to our Party during this trying time,” said Dickey via his monthly newsletter. “Our leaders are working tirelessly to see your rights as delegates come to full fruition at the state and national level with transparency, with adherence to our RPT and RNC rules and, more importantly, in the safest manner possible.”
