About B. Kay:
B. Kay Richter is a native of San Antonio. She attended Texas State University-San Marcos where she studied journalism and history. She has been a reporter for several community newspapers in south and central Texas. Her work has been published in the Rivard Report (now the San Antonio Report), Out in SA Magazine, the San Antonio Current (Euclid Media), Sobre Sound, La Prensa, CultureMap San Antonio, NOWCAST SA, the San Antonio Express-News (Hearst Media) and the San Antonio Heron.
Her prior staff positions have been with the University Star, the Hays Free Press, Wilson County News and The Seguin Gazette. She is an active volunteer and associate producer for a nonprofit called Growing Empowered Together (GET) which aims to educate and encourage voting for millennials through the emphasis of artistic programming.
For the past several years, she has served as a board member of Spare Parts. Her past role as board Secretary enabled her to aid this nonprofit in their mission of advancing reuse and sustainability through creativity and the arts.
Her past clients have included the Southwest School of Art, the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the Inner City Development Corporation and various other companies including Amazon. In her free time, she is an intern and production assistant for GA Media Productions which produces a golf and travel show with ESPN.
She currently is a Texas-based freelancer for the Associated Press and the Texas Tribune.
