About Jade:

Jade Esteban Estrada is a journalist, photographer, radio host, college lecturer and political commentator. 

A graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Estrada began his journalism career in New York where he covered human interest stories in Lower Manhattan for The Villager and the Downtown Express. His reviews and interviews have appeared in the San Diego Update, the Church Street Freedom Press, Out in SA, Trans Texas Monthly, Off-Off Broadway Review and New York Cool

In 2008, Jade hosted the 19th Annual South Florida GLAAD Media Awards on Bravo. In 2010, he was invited to The White House to attend the State Arrival Ceremony welcoming President of Mexico Felipe Calderón and his wife Margarita Zavala. 

In 2011, he began writing his weekly column, Glitter Political, which was originally published by the online news site, Plaza de Armas. In 2013, his column was picked up by the San Antonio Current where it continues today.

In 2012, he was a panelist for How the Media Shapes, Influences or Explains Latino Identity at the 9th Annual Center for Mexican American Studies and Research Conference at Our Lady of the Lake University. And, in 2016, Estrada presented his lecture, The Art of Storytelling, at the Metropolitan Community Church General Conference XXVI in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

A familiar voice on KTSA 550, Estrada is the former co-host of The Saturday Night Super Show and is a frequent Gang of Four panelist on The Jack Riccardi Show.

Jade is also reporter for Associated Press. Additionally, his work has been published by the San Antonio Express-News, San Antonio Current, San Antonio Magazine, and CultureMap.

Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert calls him “one of the best political writers in Texas.”
