WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • District 5 has partnered with Metro Health, H-E-B, Black Freedom Factory, and several small businesses to assist residents with their vaccinations
  • The Covid vaccination pop-up clinics will each offer a meal to those who get vaxxed

As the City of San Antonio continues to struggle with a surge in Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant, District 5 has partnered with the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, H-E-B, Black Freedom Factory, and several small West Side businesses to assist residents with their vaccinations. The three coronavirus vaccination pop-up clinics will each offer a meal to those who receive the vaccine.

“Whether you need your first, second dose, or your booster, we wanted to ensure that our residents have several opportunities to receive their vaccinations,” said D5 Councilmember Teri Castillo in a Jan. 21 statement. “I am so grateful for Arizona Cafe, Jaime’s Place, the YWCA, and Black Freedom Factory for working with us in this effort to aid our community as we struggle with a fourth spike of Covid-19.”

According to its website, Black Freedom Factory is an organization that aims to create “a more racially and socially just society by cultivating racial equity” across the city through advocacy, mentorship programs, community outreach, and anti-racism training.
