  • The City has collaborated with local musicians and artists to launch its Covid-19 prevention campaign titled "What Will It Take"
  • The campaign urges San Antonians to continue to slow the spread of Covid-19 by wearing face coverings, social distancing, and to get vaccinated as soon as they are able

As the City of San Antonio continues to work to make more vaccines available to residents, the City has collaborated with local musicians and artists to launch phase two of its award-winning Covid-19 prevention campaign titled What Will It Take. The campaign urges San Antonians to continue to slow the spread of Covid-19 by wearing face coverings, social distancing, and to get vaccinated as soon as they are able. The campaign features songs written by local musicians and original murals urging residents to do their part to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

“We are very proud of this campaign and thankful for all our city’s efforts to fight this pandemic," said San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg on Thursday. "The more people who get vaccinated, the more our hopes of going back to a normal life become a reality.”

This campaign features original songs from local performers Little Joe, Mariachis Campanas de America, and Simply Rayne. The songs composed by these artists feature information about Covid-19 prevention in English and Spanish along with encouraging messages about the importance of being vaccinated. All songs will be featured in radio, television, social media, and digital advertisements.

“As we continue to work to vaccinate more people in our community, we understand that everyone is experiencing fatigue and want to go back to normal soon," said City Manager Erik Walsh. "Through songs, art and traditional outreach, this campaign continues to remind the public how critical it is to work together to contain the spread of Covid-19 and get vaccinated as soon as possible."

The campaign also features murals by local artists including Alex Rubio in District 5 and Kaldric Dow in District 2 to share messages of encouragement to get vaccinated and to bring life to the walls of small businesses in the heart of neighborhoods.

The hope of the campaign is also to capture the attention of vaccine-resistant individuals in San Antonio.

“We should all be encouraged to get vaccinated so we can live a healthy life and to be able to go back to normal again,” said Little Joe.
