District 7 City Councilwoman Ana Sandoval has been appointed to serve on the 2021 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee for the National League of Cities, according to a City press release. Over the one-year term, committee members will provide strategic direction and guidance for the NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities. The appointment was announced on Friday by NLC President Kathy Maness, a councilmember from Lexington, South Carolina.

“As a former transportation planner, I am thrilled to serve on NLC’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee,” said Sandoval, who served a two-year stint at VIA Metropolitan Transit and has a background in climate science, public health, and chemical engineering. “San Antonio has made great strides in infrastructure and transportation policies in recent years, but we need federal action to truly address our needs. I look forward to advocating for our community and communities across the nation.”

Members of the NLC’s federal advocacy committees play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders in shaping the organization’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of American cities and towns before Congress, with the administration and at home.
