Considering a Resolution to Get Vaxxed? Here’s a List of Covid Vaccine Pop-Up Clinics for Jan. 2-9

December 29, 2021 - San Antonio

To vax, or not to vax, that is the question. Though health officials believe that vaccination and practices that limit potential exposure are the best ways for people to protect themselves from Covid variants, some residents remain hesitant about getting the coronavirus vaccine. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Metro Health has organized Covid-19 vaccine pop-up clinics around the San Antonio area for the week of Jan. 2-9
  • Individuals can get a free flu vaccine at the same time they get their Covid vaccine at all Metro Health pop-up clinics except the Alamodome

A new wave of Covid-19 is upon us and Metro Health is organizing weekly pop-up vaccination clinics to ensure that everyone who wants to receive a Covid vaccine has access to get one.

Throughout flu season, individuals also have the opportunity to get a flu vaccine at the same time they get their Covid vaccine. All Metro Health pop-up clinics, with the exception of the Alamodome, are currently offering the flu vaccine at no cost and it is available to anyone six months and older. Health leaders are also encouraging residents to use face masks at vaccination events.

“As we continue to learn more from the rapidly evolving situation around the Omicron variant, it is important to remember that vaccination and practices that limit potential exposure are still the best way for people to protect themselves and others from any Covid-19 variant,” said Dr. Bryan Alsip, executive vice president and chief medical officer for University Health, earlier this month.

Local health officials are emphasizing the importance of getting tested before attending large gatherings or visiting seniors. The current recommendation is for individuals to get tested about five days after an exposure to a person who tested positive for Covid-19, especially with the emergence of the Omicron variant.

A test is recommended if a person develops Covid symptoms. A list of coronavirus testing sites can be found here.

The Alamodome drive-thru clinic will be open on Thursday, Dec. 30 from noon to 8 p.m. All eligible residents are urged to get a Covid-19 vaccine and booster ahead of New Year’s Eve weekend. In observance of the holidays, there are no pop-up clinics scheduled through New Year’s Day.

Looking ahead, below is the list of upcoming pop-up clinic locations for the week of Jan. 2-9. The clinics listed now offer the Pfizer vaccine for children, ages 5 and older, as well as Pfizer booster shots for 16 years and older.

As always, the pop-up vaccination clinic dates and times below are subject to change. Individuals are encouraged to explore the interactive map of Covid-19 pop-up clinics here for the latest updates.

Metro Health $100 gift cards are available only at Metro Health-sponsored pop-up clinics and at the Alamodome while supplies last. Only participants who complete their initial vaccine series of the Pfizer, Moderna, or the one dose J&J at a Metro Health pop-up clinic are eligible.
